So in several next stages we will be making texture. The way I like to do it, I will create 3 separate layers and use high definition big radius brushes. So follow me on the screenshots.

3 layers - 3 different brush tips. Brush download link: TexturizeSetBrushes.abr.
The top layer I set to hard light and opacity jitter is set to about 80%.
So, next step is: coloring this entire grayscale pattern. We will color each layer separately using layer styles - color overlay. So here are my colors starting from the bottom layer.

Next step: create a mask to this black fill layer. See my mask and gradient unmask settings.

I've unmasked some parts on the black fill layer so we can see the picture there.

Now look at it closely and imagine if it's a face (and it is) where the most important elements should be. I mean the eyes, the nose and the mouth.
So I think the eye will be right here.
